MUSIC: Folk Friday {The Avett Brothers}


Tomorrow, I'm heading to my first music festival of the summer: The Appel Farm Arts & Music Festival. I decided for today I would feature a musician playing tomorrow. I already covered Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, so today I'll feature The Avett Brothers.



Hailing from North Carolina, these two brothers {Scott & Seth), along with Bob Crawford & Joe Kwon, perform sweet folk-rock - similar, in my mind, to The Wood Brothers or the Fleet Foxes.



Their first album, The Avett Bros., was released in 2000, this was followed by nine more albums until their eleventh one, Emotionalism {2007}, really started getting them some attention. This was followed by The Second Gleam {2008} and I And Love And You {2009}.



Throughout 2009, they opened up for Dave Matthews Band and have been playing various festivals throughout the country for the past couple of years.
